Five Ways to Supercharge your EO at the eoa Annual Conference

Baxendale Employee Ownership, sponsors of the eoa Annual Conference for a third year running, break down five reasons why you should attend.

Years of learning, underpinned by recent research into the practices needed to drive Great EO impacts, have been condensed into the EO Framework, which has been used to plan the tracks and session for this year’s conference.

The sessions and learning tracks will support you to understand these practices wherever you are in your journey. Our own experience – and the experiences of our many clients across the 20 years we’ve spent supporting EO businesses – have led us to recognise that implementing Great EO isn’t a linear journey.

So, whether you attend to plan how you can deliver on your EO ambitions, develop your culture, or to revisit your approach to leverage your EO voice in your strategies, the conference has it covered, supported by businesses who are willing to share their own employee owned stories.

As sponsors of the eoa Annual Conference for a third year - we know that the conference has a great role to play in shaping and evolving EO in your business, wherever you are in your journey.

We’re specialist advisers on employee ownership and are proud to have helped over 200 business move into employee ownership in the last decade, as well as providing support to businesses that are already employee owned.

In addition, we’re also employee owners ourselves, and across our team we have over 30 combined years’ experience of attending the eoa Annual Conference, so we really know the benefits!

1. A knowledge sharing experience

Despite being employee owned for over four decades, each year we leave the eoa Annual Conference inspired by the stories, connections, and insights of others. We hope we also inspire delegates both as employee owners as well as in our role as professional advisers in the sessions we deliver and on our exhibition stand.

With people at their heart, employee owned businesses (EOBs) bring the spirit of sharing from inside their businesses to support others to develop Great EO practices.

People aren’t afraid to share candidly what went wrong alongside what went right. For us, drawing on our own experiences and hearing the questions of those new to EO, inspires just as many ideas as the insights shared by others on how they overcame an issue.

2. Learning rooted in evidenced great practices

3. Prepare to be challenged

The keynote sessions will delve into ways businesses can plan future success as good businesses – highlighting concepts that are a good fit for EOBs to deliver great business. These sessions are designed to get you thinking about the ways your business already does some of these aspects, as well as to challenge your thinking on whether making small changes could deliver even greater impact in your business.

4. Connections that support you in your role

The connections made at the conference can support your EO ambitions in your role, for your business or linked to a topic of interest.

It's more than a formal networking experience with handshakes and business cards. Where possible, each session seats you cabaret style – from keynotes to learning sessions and at the gala dinner – to create an engaging experience where you meet different people.

Plus, we recommend you extend your experience by connecting with people before, during, or after in the eo Hub where you can support your learning using the member directory, resources section, and the discussion forums.

5. There’s time to have fun and celebrate your progress

After a day of absorbing insights, the evening starts with a meal, followed by a short awards ceremony and an afterparty for those who want to let their hair down and celebrate their progress towards their Great EO ambitions. The dress style is ‘come as you would for a night out’ but remember you still have much more to experience the next day!

We hope to see you there!
