About the speakers

Mark Barry, Director

Mark has over 18 years experience working in Architectural Practice and became a director of Architype in 2015.

Mark has excellent management and motivational skills and is highly accomplished at consolidating and interpreting ideas and briefs into cognitive and innovative design solutions.

Mark has been responsible for delivering a number of high profile projects for Architype over recent years including Herefordshire’s Archive and Records Centre (HARC) – UK’s first Passivhaus Archive/Repository building, the redevelopment of St Michael’s Hospice and Bridgecroft, Kingstone – a 150 residential unit and mixed-use Passivhaus rural development.

 

Lisa Edwards, Practice Manager and Employee Trustee

Lisa is the practice manager for the studio in Hereford and works with the directors on shaping the strategic focus of the business.

She is part of the senior management team responsible for day-to-day practice operations, including management of QA, health and safety, project invoicing, project reviewing and local management coordination.

Lisa is also an employee trustee for Architype’s Employee Benefit Trust, a role which coordinates the company’s transition to employee ownership.

 

Portia Williams, Practice and Finance Assistant 

Portia is the practice assistant in the London studio, where she has lent valuable support to the practice manager since 2019. Her role has since evolved to include support for the finance manager, which is now an area that she is currently studying in to further her career. Portia was also the key instigator for Architype’s Diversity and Inclusion group, an initiative that has gathered great momentum and resulted in a huge shift in the way the company operates, since its inception in Summer 2020.
