Day Three – 18.11.2021
13:00 – 13:40
Purcell became employee owned in May 2021, having recognised its culture had grown to align with many of the values associated with an employee owned business. As an award-winning architectural and heritage consultancy practice, employing a talented workforce of 250 people across the UK and around the world, it was a pivotal moment in the practice’s 74-year history that took careful planning to ensure sustainable future success.
You will hear first-hand experience from Purcell of what was involved in the planning and how colleagues were involved to different extents at key stages in the journey. You will hear from three perspectives; Mark Goldspink, Partner and Chief Executive, Liz Smith, Chair of Purcell Board & Regional Partner, and Alasdair Jones, Associate and Trustee.
You will learn:
- The considerations and approach taken to planning the transition
- How employees were engaged in the plan
- Best practice advice
“Purcell’s employees play such an important role in Purcell’s architectural achievements, reputation and success that an employee-owned structure was the next logical step. As a Trustee, I am looking forward to the increased sense of ownership, engagement and responsibility for our practice that employee-ownership will bring. Purcell has become an outstanding place to work and this is the next step in continuing the trend.”
