Report offers insights that map the road to successful leadership succession
The EOA is delighted to welcome a report by two EOA members that focuses on exploring leadership succession in EO businesses.
The report ‘The Road to Succession’ reveals valuable insights from Telos and JGadd Associates who conducted 25 interviews with founders and successors from employee owned businesses (EOBs).
The report also offers tips from those who have navigated the intricacies of leadership succession in EOBs.
James de le Vingne, Chief Executive of the EOA, said: “I extend my sincere gratitude to all those who have contributed to this report, from the founders and successors who generously shared their insights, to the team of dedicated individuals who made this endeavour possible.
“Whether you are a founder, successor, employee owner, customer, or supplier to an employee owned business, this report will help you address the questions and uncertainties that arise during this critical journey.
“May this report be a source of inspiration, knowledge, and practical guidance as we continue down “The Road to Succession.”
In the report Telos and Jgadd Associates share: “Successful succession comes at the end of a long road, it is not a single event in time. In an employee owned business the passing of the leadership baton is so significant as it also a change of ownership, the entrepreneurial development of the business and continues the founder’s personal legacy.
“That is why the focus is just as much on the one who is letting go as it is on the one who is taking over.”
Top tips linked to subjects such as setting a sensible timetable, preparing the senior leadership team, and how to make sure you continue to plan for your next leadership succession are just a few of the many subjects covered in the report.
