EOA launches new monthly podcast to highlight EO best practice, insight and news
The Employee Ownership Association (EOA) has launched a monthly podcast series to support its work to champion, promote and provide insight into employee ownership.
The EOA Podcast aims to bring employee ownership (EO) best practice and insights to life and further raise awareness of the impacts of good employee ownership.
Each month, The EOA Podcast will bring you interviews from a range of guests across the employee ownership sector – including founders, employee owners, specialist advisers and esteemed stakeholder partners – as well as learning insights on the theme of that episode, and news on the EOA’s latest events and courses.
The employee ownership sector has seen unprecedented growth in the last two years, and alongside this the EOA team is also growing in number and seeing a lot of new faces join – including PR and Marketing Executive Jon Mattos, who will host the podcast having joined in November 2021.
Jon said: “Knowing that people all consume content in different ways, we believe adding a podcast to our offering can help us shout about employee ownership to a potentially different audience who like to listen on the go.
“Alongside representing our member businesses which are employee owned or transitioning to employee ownership, we hope this podcast will help us raise awareness more widely as we look to champion the sector and what we call examples of ‘Good Employee Ownership’ in action.”
In the first episode of The EOA Podcast, Chief Executive Deb Oxley OBE, who is leaving the EOA in March after nine years with the organisation, offers her thoughts on her time with the EOA, of which six years were spent as CEO.
She told The EOA Podcast: “One thing I say to everybody that joins the EOA – and as we record this, we’re going to be up to about 13 or 14 people in this small, but perfectly formed team – is that most people don’t know anything about employee ownership when they join and that was certainly my experience back in 2012.
“So, some of the highlights for me were actually getting to a point where I could describe employee ownership in a relevant and professional way and that has been possible because of the fantastic support that I have personally had, and the organisation has had, from a range of professional advisers.”
With it being Episode 1 of the new podcast, listeners are introduced to the Employee Ownership Association and what it does, as well as the organisation’s list of events and courses.
Each episode of The EOA Podcast will end asking someone from within the sector ‘why do you love EO’, with Paul Seath, from law firm Bates Wells, who sits on the EOA Membership Council, stating in Episode 1: “The first word in the Employee Ownership Association is employee and I like the idea of putting the employee front and centre.”
