How we’re giving employee owners a greater financial stake
“8 years EO, we’ve evolved our model to give employee owners an even greater financial stake. We do things so people arriving to the business each morning, think and behave as an owner.”
In 2014, the National Self Build & Renovation Centre, the UK’s only visitor centre for people who are building or improving their own homes, became 75% employee owned. Two years on, the team found their structure wasn’t best serving the long-term interests of the company or colleagues.
In 2016 the team adapted to a hybrid ownership model providing a number of direct shares to some key personnel and launched their first share incentive plan in 2019 to further reward colleagues and drive engagement. Since then, the team has more than doubled in size, customer retention rocketed from 50% to 87%, turnover has reached £1.8m and the team are using further share incentives to recognise and reward the hard work of colleagues.
Join Harvey Fremlin, MD and Amanda Russell, Accounts & HR manager at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre to learn:
- How a flexible approach to their ownership structure, using different share incentive approaches over time, has made employees feel like genuine owners.
- How transparency sits at the heart of communications and engagement.
- How being employee owned has affected their reputation amongst customers.
You’ll have an opportunity to continue the conversation with our speakers in smaller networking groups and learn from fellow members on other topics unique to employee ownership.
With a diverse membership representing most sectors, sizes and locations across the UK, these Virtual Network Meetings are an opportunity to develop new contacts, discuss challenges and opportunities and share best practice and learning.
Registration on the day is from 10:55am, to allow a prompt 11am start.
