LUC wins Employee Owned Business of the Year

LUC is delighted to be named the Employee Owned Business of the Year Award in the UK Employee Ownership Awards 2023.

The awards run by the EOA and sponsored by GLIDE were held at EOA Conference 2023 Awards Dinner on Monday 27 November at the ACC LIverpool.

About the awards

The awards celebrate the impacts of giving employees a significant stake and a meaningful say, who in turn power exceptional businesses. Award winners are part of the storytelling that bring to life the evidence, that collectively, employee owned businesses punch well above their weight offering multiple impacts for society and the economy, including 8-12% increased productivity.

About the award

The Employee Owned Business of the Year award celebrates an inspiring, well-established employee owned business whose EO has delivered significant value to its overall success.

Judges notes on LUC

Judges noted that LUC approached its employee ownership as something that can grow and evolve, never standing still and linking it further into its governance and strategy. This has given them consistently excellent results both financially, but also on how the employee owners feel, which is driving a strong sense of purpose in the business.

LUC reaction

Lucy Gara, LUC Trustee and Associate Planner, said:

“We really are thrilled. We probably do not blow our own trumpet enough. When you look back you realise that you have made a lot of progress. To be recognised in this way is really heartening and we are so glad that we took part in the awards – you could wait for the ‘perfect moment’ but nothing is perfect and through the process you will find the evidence of your success is much more than you realised.”
