We’ve worked with EOA members to bring you a collection of video case studies showcasing the inspiring stories and successes of employee-owned businesses bringing ‘Good EO’ to life.
There are three pillars that we argue are essential to delivering excellent employee ownership (EO) culture – good communications and engagement, good leadership, and good governance.
In these videos, we hear directly from people at businesses who were showcased as part our EO Stories campaign in 2022 and 2021 for delivering ‘Good EO’. These companies have been recognised for their outstanding work in areas such as good leadership, engagement, governance, an outstanding EO culture, developing business resilience, or promoting employee wellbeing.
Riverford Organic Farmers – Delivering Good Governance
Riverford Organic Farmers, which transitioned to employee ownership in July 2018, scooped one of the four public vote awards as part of the 2022 EO Stories competition.
The Devon-based company won the Delivering Good Governance category after it showcased how the interplay between its three governing bodies makes it stronger and protects it for the long term, while ensuring every co-owner’s voice is heard.

Torchbox – Delivering Good Leadership
Torchbox, which became employee owned in 2019 and has offices in Bristol and near Oxford, scooped one of the four public vote awards as part of the 2022 EO Stories competition.
The digital agency won the Delivering Good Leadership award after highlighting how it has set out to become more sustainable for the future by finding ways to develop leaders across the company.

DJS Research – Delivering Good Engagement
DJS Research, which transitioned to employee ownership in July 2021 to mark its 20th birthday, scooped one of the four public vote awards as part of the 2022 EO Stories competition.
The Stockport-based company won the Delivering Good Engagement award after showcasing how its engagement activity is delivering opportunities across the business.

Hayes Davidson – Delivering a good EO culture
Hayes Davidson scooped one of the four public vote awards as part of the 2022 EO Stories competition.
The London-based company won the Outstanding EO Culture award after showcasing how its culture is built on five guiding principles that help everyone understand how information is shared, how decisions can be challenged and how the voice of the team can be represented.

Community Dental Services (CDS) CIC – Delivering Good Governance and Engagement
CDS CIC, which delivers community dental services and has locations across the country and a base in Bedfordshire, won the Delivering Good Governance and Engagement award as part of EO Stories 2021.

Claremont Group Interiors – Developing Business Resilience
Claremont Group Interiors, which became employee-owned in late 2020 and is a longstanding workplace design and build agency with headquarters in Warrington and a second office in Bristol, won the President’s Pick award as part of EO Stories 2021 after entering the Developing Business Resilience category.

Seetec – Promoting Employee Wellbeing
Seetec, which has its head office in Hockley, Essex, and delivers employment, skills and rehabilitation services, won the Promoting Employee Wellbeing award as part of EO Stories 2021.

NSBRC – Developing Business Resilience
The National Self Build and Renovation Centre (NSBRC), from Swindon, won the Developing Business Resilience award as part of EO Stories 2021.

Scott Bader – Employee Ownership trailblazer
To mark 100 years of Scott Bader Company Limited, and 70 years of the Scott Bader Commonwealth Limited, and after Godric Bader won the Celebrating a True EO Champion award as part of EO Stories 2021, the EOA went behind the scenes in 2021 at the global manufacturer of adhesives, resins, gelcoats and functional polymers based in Wollaston, Northamptonshire, to produce a video case study of its employee ownership journey.
The work of Godric and his father Ernest helped Scott Bader become the first company to hold a Common Ownership Certificate, a trailblazer of this new type of business model with employee ownership at its heart.
